About Maison
Home management for conscientious folks
Our Mission
Maison was born from a simple frustration: keeping track of everything in a home shouldn't be so hard. Between warranties, maintenance schedules, contractor bids, and renovation projects, homeownership comes with a mountain of information that's easy to lose and hard to organize.
Maison's goal is to help you see your home more clearly. By tracking your devices, their energy usage, and maintenance history, you can stay on top of what matters. No more wondering which appliance is driving up your electric bill or forgetting when you last serviced your HVAC system.
Whether you're comparing quotes for a kitchen renovation or preparing to sell your home with a complete history of improvements, Maison has you covered. We believe that understanding your home shouldn't require a spreadsheet degree—just a central hub that brings clarity to homeownership, helping you save money, reduce your environmental footprint, and take better care of the place you call home.
Our Values
Privacy First
As a European, Olivier is proud of GDPR and what it represents. Your data is yours—take it with you or set it ablaze. No ads, no selling, no sharing.
Simple & Fast
Built by someone who's optimized services for millions of users and crafted internal tools for authors and developers. No bloat—just speed.
Built with Care
Maison is used daily by its maker. If something's annoying, it gets fixed. If something's missing, it gets built.
History Matters
Inspired by the open source Keep a Changelog project, Maison plays the long game—building a record that helps you now and whoever owns your home next.
Delightful by Design
This isn't enterprise software or beige minimalism. Maison is actually meant to bring some joy. It's meant to be personal, human, and actually enjoyable to use.
Electrify Everything
Climate change won't be solved by individuals alone, but seeing the scale of home energy waste can be the tipping point that makes people start caring.
Meet the Founder
Olivier Lacan
Founder & Builder
Olivier is a French-born software engineer who has spent over 15 years building web applications and helping teams write better software. He's worked for years at technology education companies like Code School and Pluralsight, where software tooling isn't a luxury but a necessity to keep content creators productive and learners engaged.
He also spent years working in the open source community, building tools for developers and authors to create better documentation and share knowledge with Shields.io and Keep a Changelog.
After buying his first home in Orlando, Florida, Olivier found himself drowning in notes, spreadsheets, emails, filing cabinets full of manuals, and sticky notes to try and stay on top of maintenance tasks. He found the tools available for home management either too complex or too simplistic. None had the right balance between power and usability.
Maison is the app Olivier wished existed when he became a homeowner. It's built with the same attention to detail he brings to all his work: maintainable code, thoughtful design, and respect for the user's time and privacy.
When he's not building software, Olivier enjoys nature & portrait photography, discovering native plants & wildlife, and tinkering with home improvement projects.
Naturally, he tracks them all in Maison.
